ACT Presents Lobby Hero, Announces Next Season

UT’s All Campus Theatre is presenting its final production of this season, Lobby Hero, and has announced its offerings for next season.

According to director Harrison Young, Lobby Hero “is the drama-comedy of a lonely doorman who, while trying to make friends on the job, ends up getting into situations that are bigger than he knows how to solve.”  See more in Melody Gordon’s UT Daily Beacon article.

ACT’s lineup for for next season includes The Lieutenant of Inishmore, Sylvia, A Streetcar Named Desire, and Fuddy Myeers.  Find more information in Brad Stapleton’s story in the UT Daily Beacon.

SubUrbia is an engrossing story that opens during a typical night among friends who are stuck somewhere between high school and the rest of their lives. The night doesn’t stay typical for long. The arrival of a former classmate who is now a rock star sets passions and conflicts in motion. Before the night is over, friendships will be forged or shattered, romances will be won or lost, limits will be tested and futures will be shaped or destroyed.

It’s Play Time in Tennessee

Filed under: Theatre, UT Vols, Students, All Campus Theatre — rchoover @ 1:15 pm

Our football team’s off to a rocky start, but they hope to find success this Saturday here at home — and that means there’s NO SHOW ON SATURDAY (the 8th).

But with that exception, there’s plenty going on around here — The Honky Tonk Angels continues in the Clarence Brown Theatre through the 16th (with shows Wednesday through Friday this week, plus a Matinee and Evening performance on this Sunday).

And, for something admittedly different, All Campus Theatre opens EVERYTHING WILL BE DIFFERENT: A BRIEF HISTORY OF HELEN OF TROY by Mark Schultz in the CBT Lab Theatre on September 5-7 at 8pm and September 9 at 2pm and 8pm. For more information, see our “Student Bulletins” page.

So, enjoy the drama on the gridiron on Saturday, and here every other day… (but not tonight – we don’t do Tuesdays any more…)
